One of the strategies my ex employs is trying to keep my 4 yr. old daughter (D4) attached to her by having her sleep next to her in bed at night. Instead of trying to foster her growth and independence, she keeps her dependent by not encouraging her to sleep by herself in her own bed. When we were together we went to a sleep consultant, but because we have shared legal, I am unsure whether I can have her seen by a sleep consultant w/o my wife's approval? (I just had my ex found in contempt for having my D4 talk to a psychologist w/o my knowledge).

There are two beds in my D4's room, one for me and one for her. She is able to sleep by herself but then expects me to stay in the room the entire night. I'm able to sneak away after she falls asleep but if she gets up or senses I am away, she'll get up and cry until I come back. Lately, she's been having night terrors and then wanting to sleep next to me in my bed. Any recommendations on how I can get her to not only stay sleeping in her bed but be okay with me not being present in the room? I am fighting an uphill battle with an unsupportive mom.
