Hey OP and all the guys here.

Same story as you all, I'm 1.5 years out from my ex.

Ready to meet some people so got on the apps (because really as a late 30's guy and limited time and a 7 year old) they are probably the easier way to meet people.

Downloaded Hinge maybe 4/5 weeks ago. Had some matches, some broken conversations, and get used to that as it will be god awful. That's the new reality, the choice, the ease of 'naa i'll just not respond anymore'. Don't be too invested.

My experience so far and advice, is just be your authentic self, and really don't care too much about it. It's all fun and games. When my ex and I first split I went on the apps and probably tried to portray what I thought women wanted to see and wasn't very successful. I deleted until recently when I was truly ready to get back out there.

Had a date with a hottie earlier this week, I mean fuck me we went to a winter wonderland. We drank all night and hit probably every cliche in the book. But it was fucking fun. After the trauma my ex put me through it was good to feel again.

What worked for me was. Be yourself, don't think too much of it and have fun. That's what it's all about.

Depends on the type of person you are. For some guys this is their market, for others it's a nightmare. The type of women I'm attracted to were already rare in the first place and I have severe disadvantages such as my height and income comparative to the women I'm attracted to, and add in the trauma I have from the abuse while being the primary parent for a young child, I've decided to not date again. I've been happier for it.

I went out there research what apps to use for my goals and my age demographic and what's popular in my area. I would do that.

Get back out there!

My only advice to you, having gone through this after 22 years at the same women is the following:

Don't pretend like you know how dating works anymore. It's going to be really bumpy for the first year or so as you adjust your mentality going from a monogamy type of guy to a dating type of guy. I can tell you all kinds of embarrassing things I did that would be absolutely shameful.

One of the best things I did, if after I realized I wasn't very good to attracting women, as I went on YouTube and looked up how to attract women. It was a pretty big eye opener and I suggest you do the same so you don't have to go through all the embarrassment I did.

Jealous brother! I'm not there yet but would also like to know when I get to that point.

I mean, there's Tinder, Hinge, Plenty of Fish, eHarmony. I guess it depends on what you want, a hookup or a relationship.
