I'm speaking from my own personal experience and the anecdotal experiences of many others.

The family law system isn't optimized to determine what's in the best interests of the child (the majority of the time).

If it were, the divorce process would take days (weeks), rather than months (years).

The people involved (lawyers, mediators, judges, parents) would make decisions based on what is fair and just. Not whether one lawyer is more experienced, or aggressive than another. Or whether a judge has a bias.

I can't say this about every lawyer out there. But, it's quite clear that family law lawyers think about how they can make their clients more money (or money for themselves) before they think about what is actually in the best interests of the child. Otherwise, negotiations would be fast and meritocratic.

I'm appalled by the types of lawyers who are out there encouraging their clients to delay the process, ask for more, or any other tactics in order to help their client's chances to "win". All of this is at the cost of a child's (ren's) well-being.

How they could put their head down at night to sleep is beyond me.

This system requires extensive reform and it's frankly disgusting to see how it operates and the fact that we haven't found a way to improve it.

There are no excuses for this antiquated system to continue the way it has and for these individuals to continue practicing the way they do.
