Is it normal to have second thoughts? We've been living in the same house but "separated" for the past month and a half, and so far she has been improving on a lot of the things that I brought up as reasons to split and things I have been resentful of. She's helping out around the house more which actually brings housework much closer to 50/50 which was a huge complaint of mine. She's actually budgeting her money better, we've been communicating better now that the pressure of being "together" is gone. We are coparenting better, and she doesn't guilt trip me for going out or wanting to be alone, among other things. I can't help but be wary though that this is just temporary improvement because she expressed that she doesn't deserve me, and wouldn't be able to find anyone better, and is afraid to lose what we've built over 12 years. I'm not 100% convinced she's changed. We never married but have 4 kids and the house is in my name. So I'm not on the hook for a traditional divorce per se, but I initiated a breakup after a blowout fight we had about 2 months ago. We aren't violent or verbally abusive, but just grew apart and held on to a lot of resentment over the years. It feels like as the dust has settled, I'm afraid I made the wrong choice and maybe its not ~that~ bad. She wants us to remain a family, but I'm worried we're just kicking the can down the road. I'm stuck between wanting to be free and wanting to try and work it out. Anyone have similar doubts or experiences?
