I’ve been stressed, but I think I’ve figured out a plan. I need to see if this seems sensible.

I am planning to request the following custody arrangement during mediation or in court:

Dad’s Schedule:

  • Every Week: Sunday night, Monday night, and Tuesday night.
  • Week 1 (Every other week): Friday night and Saturday night.
  • Total: 8 nights out of 14.

Mom’s Schedule:

  • Every Week: Wednesday night and Thursday night.
  • Week 2 (Every other week): Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night (Sunday night transition back to Dad).
  • Total: 6 nights out of 14.

Financial and Medical Terms:

Health Insurance Premiums: Dad shall provide and cover the cost of health insurance premiums for the children until they no longer require coverage or are no longer eligible for coverage under applicable laws.

Health Insurance: Requesting a $1,500 lump sum to cover health insurance premiums paid since 2019 (primarily to address the deficiency balance).

Deficiency Balance: I will take full responsibility for paying the remaining deficiency balance.

Tax Credits: I will claim both children as dependents on my taxes annually.

Child Support: I am proposing that child support be waived by both parties.

Medical Expenses: Each parent covers the children's medical co-payments during their parenting time.

For any single expense over $500, the other parent’s agreement is required unless:

A medical provider deems the service medically necessary (the other parent must be notified).

The situation is a medical emergency.

Extracurriculars: Each parent covers the costs for the activities they choose to enroll the children in.

Logistics and Holidays:

Right of First Refusal: Applicable for any period of 14 hours or more.

Holiday Rotation:

The following six holidays/periods will be rotated annually:

Memorial Day July 4th Thanksgiving Day The Friday, Saturday, and Sunday after Thanksgiving Christmas Eve Christmas Day

Summer Vacation: Each parent is allotted two weeks of vacation during the summer.

Deadlines: Dates must be provided to the other parent by the first Sunday in January; otherwise, the priority for choosing dates is waived. Priority: Dad has priority in odd years; Mom has priority in even years.

School Breaks: Rotate Spring and Fall breaks annually.

Odd Years: Dad has Fall Break; Mom has Spring Break.

Even Years: Dad has Spring Break; Mom has Fall Break.
