My wife and her attorney have gone 'no contact' and she threatened a restraining order if I dare speak to her. She's refusing to sign the divorce decree so we're looking at court to compel her. Yeah, she's fun. We already had a successful mediation last year and are now separated, in different states. We do not have any joint property, no kids.

I will be filing taxes married filing separately and I will be itemizing. From what I've read, if I itemize, it forces her to itemize. I believe she has already filed using the standard deduction. What happens after I file mine with itemized?

Remember, both her and her attorney are stonewalling me and my attorney, so talking it out or asking her to amend her return is not an option. My attorney has no clue, he's never had a situation where both the client and the attorney think ignoring all communication is okay.

(And if anyone knows how to get a person on the phone with the IRS....that would be helpful...3 hours waiting on the phone just to get hung up)
