Wife and I married 19 yrs, we have 3 kids 13, 10, 8. I want out for no reason other than just unhappy marriage, past ghosts, etc. I'm pushing 40 and don't wan to do this when i'm 50-60.

She works at local HS earning about 30k a yr in smaller town (i've even paid off her Fed school loans its all documented)

I work and earn >100k and I'm 100% Perm & Total disabled combat vet - zero prop tax, kids covered by medical, plus about 3900 a month tax free stipden (more now since i'm still married)....

We have about 500k in house equity depending - owe around 180k, can sell for high 600s now... We each have dependable new cars..

I'm trying to help her understand if we just play the Texas State's rules 50/50 split and I'd be olbligated to pay my share of CS (30% of net income) - she can basically walk away after all our assets and equity with a big enough chunk to just buy a house outright, or real cheap - and live fine... I don't know if she'd want to fight for support given the amount she'd walk with after the 50/50... Or if the court would go for it.. She wouldn't be in the poor-house and has a means to support herself fine.

Any guidance or thoughts? I don't plan on ever doing this again.
