Alright fellas,
I never thought I would be a part of this group, but I'm going to need some advice on this one. I am a 25 year old male. My wife is 25 too. I'm in the Army and we got married before I came out on this year tour, yes, a big mistake right? Anyways. There's more details but I'll get to the point, but we've gotten into a lot of arguments during the time that I have been gone. Every time we would argue, she would leave and go hang out with her guy friends. A big, major red flag. Yes, I know and I'm not taking her back. I respect myself too much. It has been an ongoing issue for her going to her guy friends for advice and all that bullshit. She had even showed me texts last month with two of them. One of the guys she just showed up at his doorstep. Another she went out with. She went out with both of the guys on separate occasions which blew my fucking mind. How the fuck do you say you love someone and go cry about me to her guy friends. Stupid. Geez.
This is some bullshit, fighting for this fucking country to have some other guys take care of your wife. I don't want this rant to go on. I came out on tour since July last year. I'm going home next week for vacation. She emailed me and told me last month that she was done. She went with her parents and approved the petition for the divorce. I'm blocked on everything except for email. She said that I will be hearing from the lawyer in email to sign my part. I don't know how divorces go, but what do I do in this situation? Being out in the middle east and I got other shit I'm stressing about (work related), her adding her attitude and disrespect to the mix hasn't been very helpful to me out here.
I'm going home to see my family in Washington. She lives in Utah currently. I want the divorce to happen immediately, to sign the paperwork and get a move on, but its taking a long time. I know for Utah, for divorces to be finalized, it takes 90 days. Where do I go from here? Do I go home in Washington and file with a lawyer there? Should I get a lawyer for this? Should I get a lawyer or wait until I get served the divorce papers to get one? It was a big mistake to get married, yes I know, and even my parents warned me about it, but I didn't listen. My contract in the Army is ending soon. I may reenlist to go to Florida and it will come with a bonus, but I don't want to unless this divorce is finalized so she doesn't touch it. Luckily, we've only been married for a few months and we have no shared assets so it should be a smooth divorce. I've been working out and getting in better shape, and trying to get my shit straight for either getting out of the Army or staying in for another contract, but I doubt I will ever get married again. Not worth it. I need advice guys, anything will help me honestly, thanks.
