When did you remove the ring?

I have a box where I put small objects of sentimental value.

The day I separated from my wife, I put my ring in there.

I don't think I could throw it out. Being married to her was part of my life, and I don't think I ought to forget it. I'll occasionally take it out and look at it to remind myself of mistakes I've made.

The ring is a symbol of your union. When the union is over (and I don't mean legally), it's time to remove the symbol. I stopped wearing mine when I knew we were done.

The day she said she wanted a divorce, i already new about the affiar. It was obvious she chose him, so I gave her my ring and I made her give me hers (it was the only thing I go from my grandma afer she passed).

I took mine off and pawned it once my separation was final. not sure why... just used to wearing it for 14 years. only got a 100 bucks for it

Lost mine. Wife got me a new one but that was the month I found out she was texting a dude in secret so I gave it back. Not sure what happened to it after that. She probably returned it.

My STBXW gave me a line of taking the ring off before doing yard work at her aunt’s house. She never put it back on.

I took mine off about a week later.

We agreed to separate for 6 months and go to counseling to help us fix what was wrong with our relationship. After 3 months she told me she was done and that she had spoken with a lawyer. The minute she left the house, I took it off and haven't even thought about it since. I was served with the papers as I showed up for work later that week. For someone to completely give up on me like that, I couldn't stand to have that thing on my finger another second. I'm not saying I wasn't partially to blame for the breakdown of our relationship, but I was legitimately trying to change and be a better husband. The fact that she gave up half way through what we had agreed upon, that hurt the most. Not sure what I'm going to do with it. It's engraved, so I'm guessing it'll be hard to sell.

To me, the ring was a symbol of our relationship and not a symbol of our legal status. I took it off as soon as it was clear that our relationship was over. That proceeded the legal separation.
