Long post ahead
I went through a pretty bad rough patch starting in Oct 2022 and became better around April 2023. I paid for counceling services, I was lonely, and afraid I had no success with women because I was “too behind” in life.
I’m currently 24 years old. At this time I was watching a lot of Hamza and Andrew Tate videos. I felt like I had to become a real man by building muscle, date a bunch of girls, change my personality to be more outspoken. And if I didn’t do all this I wouldn’t be respected in society.
I became stressed out at all the things I had to do. “Monk mode”, no fap, cold showers, no junk food, try to start a business to make money, get clout on social media, train constantly, stop being shy, don’t watch tiktok or Netflix, increase my “body count”, and ditch all your friends that aren’t into self improvement.
It felt good at first, like I was finally on the path to becoming a "high value man". But I became lonely. I couldn’t enjoy my life, I felt guilty whenever I wasn’t “grinding”. I was so far behind where the gurus were. I needed more money, more clout, a better dating profile, better apartment, cooler car, better body. Need need need.
I couldn’t do it and eventually broke. I deleted my Instagram because I didn’t want to build a “cool guy” profile. I deleted Snapchat. I had a dating profile with plans of improving it later (with all the “perfect photos”) but I scrapped that too. I realized I’m just not that guy.
I began to realize how corny these gurus really are. Getting clout online doesn’t make you happy. The perfect body is unrealistic and gruesome to maintain. Being a “laptop entrepreneur” is a pipe dream and won’t gain you respect.
I’ve realized that women don’t look for the perfect man. They look for somebody they can connect and relate too. A real person. The gurus treat women like a carrot dangling over your head. Like do all this stuff and you’ll get the girl. And if you don’t she won’t respect you as a man.
When I removed myself from this lifestyle I learned to enjoy normal, everyday life again. It’s okay to watch netflix sometimes. It’s okay to have a normal job. It’s good to improve but take it easy on yourself. I’m gonna eat my food and watch my show now, I hope you’ve gained something out of this.
