After posting a minor divisive post yesterday which somehow did not get me downvoted to oblivion for my committing careless cruelty in my pickmeisha past, I was wondering whether the current population of FDS is similarly divided on how we must conduct ourselves as HVW. The anecdote below is something which I have not known what to think about, but has chewed away at my brain for many years.

Back in med uni, my group had classes in the rehabilitation wards. I was paired up with two other women in my group, who I had only a passing acquaintanceship with, but I knew that one was in a LTR, and the other engaged to be married. We took the history of a male patient who had been in a skiing accident, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. He was good-looking and had a great job and social life, the latter two of which were completely destroyed after the accident. As far as you get to know patients as a student, he seemed an optimistic man, who asked us in the middle of the interview to help his hospital roommate, an old man who had just gotten back from hip replacement surgery, to reach the paper towels (we were not facing that direction, the young male patient was).

When we three students were later standing in the hallway, waiting for the residents to herd us back into the lecture room, we witnessed the girlfriend of the patient quickly enter and exit the room in tears. My peer who was engaged turns to the other and says "I feel really bad for her! Can you imagine not having sex for the rest of your life? I'd pack my bags and leave." My other peer replies "Yeah, I don't think I could survive such a situation, too. We'd have to break up. I don't think I could handle being around my boyfriend emotionally for a long time if it happened." I just stared out the window and didn't know what to think about the conversation, but couldn't forget it.

As you ladies know, often are posted in this subreddit articles regarding how droves of scrotes leave their wives once she is ill, and it is rightfully reviled. So the question is: were my peers' opinions LVW, cruel, LVM-mirroring bullshit, or do you believe it is justified after years of seeing their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, cousins suffer the same treatment at the hands of men?

I'm interested in hearing the reasoning to your votes in the comment section, as well ;)

EDIT: /u/TheOGJammies brought up the fact that the poll results may be manipulated by male lurkers. Please consider posting your opinion in the comments!
