IMO, the "talking phase" should also be called the "wasting women's time" phase. If he's not trying to see you in real life, he's not interested in a relationship. "Talking" via messenger /dating apps is a way to get attention w/out him having to invest anything.
I pay attention to men in real life only. After a few back and forth messages, I would say something like, "It's been nice chatting. I'm looking to meet up in real life, so this will be my last message here. Have a good day." If his next message was not trying to arrange a date or a video chat, I deleted him and moved on.
I'm no longer subjecting myself to dating apps, but this is how I vetted men. You always want to do video chat on the app before agreeing to meet; most of these men are LVM with old photos and zero social skills, which is easily verifiable with an in-app chat.
I recommend that you don't give out any other communication info until after you meet in person. Make them earn your real life contact info.
