For me, I do all these things out of self love because I love myself enough not to allow myself to get hurt again. Because I love myself enough not to suffer the emotional abuse (and physical abuse that I suspect) my mom endured from my NVM father.

It's hard to keep your standards high, it's hard to block/delete, it's hard to stop yourself and walk away instead of giving him a chance (or 2nd chance), it's hard cutting off pickme friends that are dragging you down, and it's especially hard to leave a toxic relationship with an LVM when you finally are starting to see the light... but it was HARDER for me to heal from the verbal abuse, cheating, gaslighting and low self esteem, etc ... it was a lot harder for me to be stood up by a future faking love bomber who stood me up and then tried making me into a fwb... I'll never forget all the times I sobbed and felt like I couldn't breathe.... it's so much easier for me now to just walk away /block at the first red flag.

I'm so embarrassed and ashamed that this took me so long to fully understand. Identifying mental and physical abuse patterns can be so difficult, especially when dealing with a narcissistic partner. It seems so simple now, but in the thick of it, I really believed I was worth nothing. My self-esteem was so damaged. I feel like I wasted so much of my life already, I don't want to waste another second being unhappy.
