"Sole function" is wrong. There's no human organ that big that has a "sole function". The ironically false title is the fault of the publication, but I love that they manufacture and distribute plastic models of the entire clitoris. It'll take women years or decades more to prove that the clitoris is more than "just" for pleasure. UGH. Breathe. I went nuts about the cave paintings for years also, until finally they proved women did the cave paintings. One day hopefully the clitoris will get its own chapters and even cross references.

I had a deleted comment for whatever reason, that had to do with perhaps other functions of the clitoris. My ideas are:

Possibly it has a role in more successful fertilization of the egg, or the release of additional chemicals or hormones that assist development or attachment of the egg to the uterine wall perhaps. Maybe it plays a role in latching onto the male genitalia, increasing a woman's chances of bearing children with her chosen, healthier mate. It might be a gate of sorts, like a sensor that helps women find mates that stay and provide.

I think LadyDraconii's comment fits a lot of puzzle pieces in my mind. It'd require as study to determine. Maybe it has been? I'm thinking not, but hoping someone has a link. It would be interesting to read.
