*(I posted this on a very large sub for women. It was removed. If you see anything wrong with my questions, will you point it out? Or can we just count that as another #RedditHatesWomen moment? Anyway onto the post)*

By virtue of engaging in self care that centers around maintaining/increasing beautiful, plastic surgery, cam filters, and so forth, the every day woman acknowledges that beauty is critically important. People understand that beauty is social capital. Our social media apps like TikTok and its beauty algo generate tons of revenue. People have heard about pretty privilege.

But when the speaker is someone who acknowledges that society sees her as unattractive, a substantial amount of gaslighting takes place. Why do you think that is? What is that mechanism and why do we use it?

What does it do for people who push toxic positivity and tell someone not to say this about herself? I am not talking about beautiful people with low self esteem and BDD which is also an awful struggle.

We live in a society where racism thrives. Colorism is very much a thing. Ridiculing fat women resulted in a movement. There will always be the people who fail to meet the well established beauty standards. I'm also of the belief that many men are malicious to women they find unattractive. Indifference would be a gift. Some of them will target you for humiliation as if to punish you for not pleasing their eye.

If an ordinary woman is going through it because of shallow guys thinking she doesn't deserve the effort he will give a beautiful woman, why is that ordinary woman telling the unattractive woman that her loneliness is in her head?

The world has never been kind to the cat ladies and the spinsters. Most people do what they can to avoid falling into these categories. A lot of women cry or accept abhorrent behavior from partners because they don't think they can do better. Anything not to end up as a cat lady

I just thought it curious. Today someone posted a thought we've discussed a few times about how death seems more tragic when the person who died is a beautiful young woman. What of those who will never be seen that way? Any advice on how someone like that live a fulfilling, happy life

And I don't think its helpful to say "just don't care about what people say". Human beings are social creatures and ostracization is painful. We even put people in isolation for punishment in prison. What are your thoughts?
