benefits of the pepper blaster: - can shoot up to 13 ft (!!!!!!) - not pressurized like spray, so doesn't lose pressure over time. - disables attacker for 45 mins. - easier to grip and hold than spray. point and shoot. - sprays often have a safety lock, the pepper blaster doesn't. faster and more instinctual. - concentrated shot. lower chance of hitting bystanders.

Be very careful with carrying weapons.

If you choose to carry a weapon: make sure you do it legally, with the appropriate documentation and insurance to support your choice.
Make positive that you practice, practice, practice. Be fluent in your chosen form of protection.
Know the ramifications of withdrawing your chosen method of protection. Do you have legal representation lined up? Do you know the guidelines for drawing or discharging your chosen weapon?
Your weapon, any perceived weapon, can be taken from you and used A) on you, or B) elsewhere.

You are better off learning Self Defense.

Take an actual course in Women’s Self Defense. You will learn what to look around You for (situational awareness) and How to defend yourself should you not be able to avoid confrontation.

Learning How to break an attacker’s hold, is worth more than anything else.

Personally, I carry a large firearm and have been thoroughly trained in it’s use, by several professional trainers. I also practice regularly.

But the reality IS, that I keep myself out of dangerous situations at all costs. I’ve lived in very dangerous and very large cities, and traveled for decades... “keep yourself away from the bad areas” is the best advice!

hardly see the point. You aware of effects of wind on pepper spray and that it’s likely to harm you

Seems a little bulky. I like the pepper spray key chain, so you always have it on hand.

I don't hate this, but I don't love it either.

You're losing one of the biggest benefits of traditional pepper spray - it's small and you can discreetly hold it in your hand in "firing position" when you're in a dangerous situation. You've got to get your finger around a trigger with this.

13 feet is not as far away as you think it is. An average man could easily close that distance in 1-2 seconds.

This would require a much more accurate shot than traditional pepper spray. Pepper spray really only impacts the face. It's uncomfortable on other parts of the body, but you want that effect of tearing eyes, running nose, and coughing to disable an attacker. Aerosol pepper spray creates a cloud, so even if you don't make a perfect shot, the attacker still has to walk through it to get to you. You can use it to cover a retreat - spray, and run in the opposite direction. This thing, not so much. So you've got about two seconds to hold this thing correctly, aim, and land a face shot - on what is probably a moving target, while you are also moving. It seems like you'd need to train with this if you're going to use it. But it's disposable, not refillable, and it's like $30.

If you're already a really good shot with a gun, maybe this is a good option. But in that case, you'd probably just carry a gun. I can't tell who the target market for this thing is supposed to be.

Edit: Maybe this would be okay for home defense, if you're uncomfortable owning a gun? I can see not wanting to create a pepper spray cloud in your own home, especially if it's between you and an exit. You'd still need to be a really good shot, though.
