Thank you! I told a man (never met him before) this morning to not go out of his way to see me today as I am recovering from a migraine. He decided to anyway. He sent me a text saying he could bring me lunch and that he had stopped in my town. I said no I'm not feeling good, I am resting. I didn't apologise, I did nothing wrong. I was polite and considerate, he was verging on pushy. I also have a 4 year old I needed to make arrangements for in order to see him, which he knew. In past times I would have either freaked and ghosted, or forced myself to see him to show my gratitude for the effort he made - which I didn't even ask for. No more. Doing me baby! Edit: He knew today was a maybe. He was passing by on his way to somewhere else so it had never been my choice or idea. I had sent him a text this morning saying that I didn't feel good, and that I might feel better but I didn't want him to go out of his way for a maybe. He was fine with it.

Yeah, girl, if you've got that kind of time how about you do something to impress your self/mom/best friend/boss/professor/trainer/literally anyone but some man?

I totally agree about not going out of your way to impress a guy, but a petty part of myself likes proving them wrong sometimes.
Once some guys I was acquaintances with were talking about VR gaming, so I mentioned that I played a bit of beat saber. One of them said that I "didn't seem like the kind of person who'd be any good at that". (Not sure if it was because of my gender, or the fact that I'm not in amazing shape). Anyways, the jokes on him because I told him to add me and look at my highscores. His were entire letter ranks beneath mine.
I have admit that it made me happy, even if I probably shouldn't have engaged with him.

Do things for yourself only. The right guy will be impressed by that.

And on the flip side, don't stop yourself from doing/saying things in order to keep the peace or impress a man.
