I am so passionate about Yzma! Usually in animation and character design women aren't given the option to have such dynamic interesting choices with their look and persona. Look at inside out, the male emotions get to be so weird looking! And all the girls HAVE to have a cute round face, with a cute round nose.

And ESPECIALLY for brown women it goes double: Jasmine, Pocahontas, Esmeralda (Hunchback of Notre Dame), Kida (Atlantis: The Lost Empire), Chell (Road to El Dorado) and even Nani (Lilo and Stitch). All their character designs go out of their way to make them sexy, sometimes subtly but still. If you look at their white counterparts, they don't get forced into a sexy box. I'm not saying a sexy female character is inherently a bad thing, I'm saying that it's the ONLY option brown women were given. In fact we have it so warped in our minds that my friend tried to argue with me that Jasmine was dressed like that for historical accuracy, if you look into it and compare the other princess character designs and historical accuracy with Jasmine's, it is a huuuuge stretch. I promise you no Arabic princess would be showing close to that much skin back then.

But Yzma, she is a beautiful and fantastic example of all that you can do with female character design. And look how worth it it was! If only more animators followed suit.

Yesterday, someone posted Eartha Kitt's interview on love, so I thought she might be a good subject for a collage. She played one of my favorite Disney villains, Yzma. Also, Catwoman.

Me and my grandma would watch the Kuzco series on disney channel growing up and we both loved Yzma. I forgot about it until now she's a queen
