Look up anxious attachment or ambivalent attachment. Whenever you outsource the validation of your sense of self to another human; most convenient is a romantic prospect - as it mimics a primary caregiver relationship the most, you know you are not in the right headspace for most things. Once you fix that, it will help with your life. You may still go back and forth a little, but you will snap out of it much faster.

Work on getting friends first and building a good life for yourself before you start dating. At this point it's likely just what you're using as a distraction to make you feel better. But a romantic relationship will not fix your life. And the wrong one will make it significantly worse.

-Read some self-help book to improve your confidence and do counseling. -Make a list of things that he has done to you tangibly. Like has he paid bills, has he taken you to vacation, has he bought you gifts, etc. -Neither compliment or insult means a damn thing, it's just words and words turn into air. -Sickness or health, better or worse, to have and to hold... is WEDDING vow. You say the vow and then you sign the legal document. Government is now involved. The vow applies when you're legally married and well taken care of. Before that, don't be too invested in any way shape or form.
