The HV gifts aren't the monetary amount is damn correct. It's the thought and care that goes into them. Like picking up on your gf being sad because she's worn out her favorite pair of earrings-so you either get an identical replacement, or get them refurbished. It's small-but it's meaningful and shows that you paid attention to her. That's priceless.

Even something that you work on together can be so meaningful. Every December, I would draw up a design for an ornament based off what happened that year, my ex would cut it out of wood for me, and I'd paint it. It was a custom ornament we'd make every year. Things like that are precious, and I wish more people would be willing to do things like that.

Alright. I'm still holding off on the full post about my new bf. But I can't help but to gush here.

We both cried when I opened my gift tonight. It was a picture of the stars the night we first started talking -before he even asked me out- with the location (very meaningful to us) and a quote saying when I think of wishing on a star I think of you. There was a card that also was very meaningful and brought a tear to my eye because of the thoughtful content. The message inside alluded to the gift, was personalized to our story, and included a full page hand written love letter. We also went to a rather expensive dinner, he staged all the gifts beautifully along with roses in my favorite color, and lovely champagne.

We are three months in. My gift was thoughtful though not to this extent. I follow the rules mindset - hard to get but easy to be with. This man has done everything exactly to the tune of "if he wanted to, he would". He exceeds my expectations daily.

Caveat - we knew each other peripherally for a year prior to any interest being shown. I had good reason to believe this man was HVM long before we ever dated. He has done nothing but prove this since we crossed paths. But you still need to vet and take stock for yourself. I have not had any doubts of his intentions prior and at this point am very assured how serious he is about me. I feel like sometimes it's hard to judge this, especially because we encourage so much vetting and skepticism. You will know when the right man has serious intentions. It will be a bit too soon but you will both feel it. He will say and do things with his actions to prove that he is serious. Very soon in. I fuly expect a proposal by the end of the year. And I know that if things keep going this way I will accept enthusiastically.

Exactly this! Money is really a proxy for time and energy. You can mix any of the 3 in proportion.

I like to think of it like this: You don't need to buy my flowers if you don't want to spend money. I will equally accept flowers that you grew and tended to yourself, picked and presented to me in beautiful fashion with your own hands.

One of the best gifts my fiance gave (wasn't even a special occasion) was that he downloaded a list of games that he thought I would like to play. Sure, he gave me other gifts like laptop, phone, tuition money, expensive jewelry....but it's the CONSISTENT effort that he puts in everytime even without a special occasion that wins me over.

This is so sweet. I have never understood women getting expensive rings, bags, shoes from men. Sure, I am as materialistic as the next woman, but it just doesn’t really mean anything?

My first boyfriend made me some mix CDs (this was a long time ago) to listen to on a trip I was taking. They had different themes. I still remember them so many years later because he took the time to curate and put together mixes :,)

We love thoughtfulness, anything to show you care and don’t want to just look like you care.
