People are terrible at taking responsibility. Men especially because then they have to deal with emotional fallout that comes with it.

We can see this in the way we discuss rape and abuse . It’s more often “sorry that happened to you” rather than “sorry that man did that to you”

Block him. He can never apologize enough for what he put you through or justify his behaviour, he’s a terrible person, and socializing w him will just make you upset. Closure from an abuser doesn’t exist. The closure comes from knowing you survived, and that you didn’t deserve what happened to you. Refrain from communicating with him further, he will try to tell you why he did the things he did, and honestly, it’s not enough, it will never be enough, and you deserve better- even conversationally.
