Hi guys, I'm in college right now, and my friends often say my standards (since joining FDS) are too high or give me a look when I tell them. Now these are personal to me but:

- Loves God/is Christian

- Kind

- Thoughtful

- Goes out of his way to help me/others

- Treats/talks about women respectfully

- Pays for dates

- Interesting ie can hold a conversation

- Has his own friends, hobbies, and interests

- Has goals that he works towards

- Financially responsible with his money

- Loves children/pets

- Not prone to anger, jealousy, or controlling/abusive behavior

- Grateful/not entitled

- Responsible, can be trusted

- Actions prove his words have meaning

- Plans thoughtful dates and is not late

- Good hygiene

- Does his own chores, cleaning, and cooking (or at least can hire someone)

Honestly, don't think this is outrageous and most of it is "be a decent/nice person" which shouldn't even be a question. But I feel the comments and heat I get for what I want (which is fine because it's my life) but it can make me doubt if I want too much. Then I heard about breaking mom and joined to see how these women ended up with AWFUL, LVM/NVM husbands who leave their kids in poopy diapers or outside in the yard (babies), get fired and still make their lives do all the housework, cheat on them, are abusive, are basically a man child, have untreated addictions, treat them like a sex object, or hurt their children. I'm not saying if you have high standards this won't happen, but you will weed out most of the LVM through your standards.

For me, I need a HVM who WILL not can (potential) be a great father one day and when I doubt myself I remind myself what life looks like when you refuse to vet carefully, ignore red flags, chase men, or lower your standards to an absurd degree. Not all guys will be perfect or match my standards to a T, but I'm looking for close enough.
