IDK why he stuck around, maybe for free rent. He's not the father of the child, and he abused her after he was on babysitting duty. Not justifying his actions whatsoever, but you have to wonder what his mental state was.

I’m so sick of this notion that you have to “think about the mental state” of a violent criminal - especially one that preys upon a completely defenseless victim like an infant.

It’s not enough for them to call this man a disgusting human being and condemn him for his actions. Reddit has to imply the mother is somehow partially at fault for the “mental state” that “resulted” in this abuse. This man voluntarily joined a polyamorous relationship that (at the time) already involved three other men and a child, then used the resulting “stress” from living in that environment as justification to take his violent impulses out on a child. As if he was trapped and had no opportunity to leave.

That said, this is yet another cautionary tale about polyamory, and not introducing men to your minor children. Finding one HVM is difficult enough. If you’re living with five men, I guarantee you all of them are shit.

Ah yes I've come across men with this argument before, 'oh a man did something bad - must be girlfriends fault for winding him up or for not supporting him' or 'oh poor man obviously somethings wrong with him and the woman should have understood.'

This was a recipe for disaster. A child is something like 40 times more likely to be abused by mom’s boyfriend than their biological father. And there were three boyfriends in the fucked up “relationship.”

Reminds me of a similar story a few days ago on the front page where a man killed his infant son by repeatedly throwing him on the floor.

Top comment was about how the mother was to blame for this, as she wasn't able to save her baby. Of course it's her who is at fault and not the person who actually killed the baby.
