I used to love sites like Literotica and more recently SoloTouch. But I've noticed the majority of stories now involve:

Force Violence Incest Awful descriptions of women When describing a man it's usually just cock size.

It's very off-putting.

Hmmm a lot of written erotica is extremely violent and misogynist. Also many of the sites that host it, are also powered and financed by actual porn, cam girls etc. I would still call most of it unethical and poisoning to the mind. I would say it's still better for someone to have real sex, with HV people in real life, and/or masturbate using your (gasp!) IMAGINATION.

Hmmmm I personally read "erotica" but in the form of fanfiction, but I specifically go for stories where the couples of my preference are obviously in love and have a healthy relationship.

The good thing about written stories is that generally speaking, it really doesn't involve real people like video porn. It's just the author writing whatever fantasies they have (of course, someone might have been hurt, like the author themselves, and they're writing as part of their healing process, but I'm not really talking about those).

Some stories are not even sexual, but it's about the couple cuddling and spending time in bed, wholesome stuff.

I have tried "regular" erotica and I sadly agree that most is not only badly written, but it resembles shitty porn with the rape, incest, strangulation, etc.

So all in all, I believe as long as you actively seek stories written by GOOD writers who write about healthy romantic relationships, it's OK to use that instead of porn. Hell, lots of times I don't even use it for masturbation, I just love reading about a loving couple having loving, non-disgusting sex.

I think erotica can be artistic. I am a professional designer/illustator and I've certainly drawn sensual or erotic images - even written erotic content. To me, there's no exploitation because it's a self-motivated expression of sexuality in an artistic framework. It's not so much about sexual gratification as sensuality. Whereas pornography is definitively exploitative - people are coerced into it, the images are explicit and degrading, the values espoused are completely against healthy relationships, family and monogamy, etc, etc. Certainly some erotica can be over the line but for example I'd consider the painting 'Olympia' to be erotic but categorically not pornographic. Ban porn hub, not the louvre.

For me personally, erotica was just as bad as porn. I had to stay away from it because erotica was making me want to watch porn again. Its a slippery slide.
