When I did OLD, I stopped replying to men who couldn’t capture my attention or put demonstrable effort in initial messages because 9/10 would not progress beyond low-effort small talk.

Is it bad that I had a Craigslist ad (looking for rooms/housing etc)... and I said enough in the ad. But when people responded, “Are you male or female?” I responded with, “Do I sound like a guy to you??”

Or I get pissy when they said “need more info,” as if I was on a dating app when they ask the same thing although I babbled my head off in the description. Lol. I’m probably being too much but I’ve always had the same reaction in dating apps too. Just didn’t realize I brought it over to housing searches.

I’ve had success with OLD. HVM hands down x2. I “approve” thousands knowing that MAYBE at least 1 will come through who is genuine. I used to have days where I’d swipe right without looking at the photo. I wanted to judge ppl based on their interactions and not looks. Why did I stay on OLD? Bc my ass is on there too and I’m NOT looking for a one night stand or looking for a unicorn for my husband.

So I held firm in my belief that if there’s a me, there’s gotta be a male version within the 1000s. Anyone who didn’t engage in convo on their own, I didn’t reply to. Or I just messed with and irritated them by wearing full on attitude. Anyone who said WYD or “tell me about you” I didn’t engage with in serious terms.. all the things we hate. I was blessed at the time to find those two folks gasp! Blessed? (Different years). Yes, going against the FDS stance on some things as, that has been my personal experience. There would have been a 3rd- 14 hour in person convo on the 2nd date. Never once did he try to kiss me, we didn’t talk about sex. No awkwardness. I thought it was going somewhere.

But soon before he had to stop dating/talking there was a situation with his daughters mom that came up and 3 months later, it actually turned into a positive bc he was able to move his daughter in with him. So for me, not all “ghosting” has been terrible. She somehow would have managed to find me and don’t something evil if he had kept talking to me. And if you don’t know girls can get crazy, then you’re lucky. And it wasn’t even to protect her daughter either, which was the worst of all of it.

Anyway, one I ended it with bc he ended up having some psych things happening that I couldn’t protect him or myself from. The other, I was stupidly stuck on my ex and DEFINITELY he would have been the guy to suffer through pregnancy for me/with me just so my day could be a tiny bit easier. But now I clearly know the qualities I want in a future and it sure doesn’t start with, “Tell me about you.”
