I'm shaking my head at myself, when I was being coerced into marriage at 19 I asked my then boyfriend to please make me a ring, because it would show effort, I just wanted to at least be proposed to, not told "we're getting married". What I got was a generic $25 thing from the jewellers, not even in a style I liked. Like, if my plea for a personal handmade ring had to be ignored, couldn't he at least put some thought into a proper engagement ring?

A ring made from glass for everyday wear would be cute, I could see myself appreciating the time that went into it and wearing it to brunch and to the mall. A ring like that as an engagement ring which is meant to last the rest of your life? Hard NO! And that’s not gold digging at all!

Look, I can see (if it’s been discussed previously) proposing with a handmade or daily wear ring (silicon or other material worn at work so the nice ring doesn’t get damaged, typical if your job involves lots of hand washing or machinery) so the couple can shop for the REAL ring together and she can pick out hers when he picks out his. I’m pretty picky and would want to pick out my own ring. Of course, since engagements should never come as a total surprise, he could ask for her preferences in advance to propose with her preferred ring,

But a ring is supposed to LAST. It’s an heirloom meant to be worn for a lifetime and passed on. Unless he’s a master craftsman, a homemade or cheap ring isn’t going to do that. A cheap ring that has a shelf life is a sign he views the relationship as having a shelf life.

I'mm in my 30s an still a virgin and honestly it doesn't bother me. Sure I have kissed guys and stuff but I have never liked it so always stopped it before it went that far. Maybe I'm asexual, I don't know, I though that I can't just have sex with some stranger I have just met and have no connection to. Maybe I will enjoy the kiss and sex if I love the guy. Mostly I would like to find someone I can have an emotional connection to, if I don't I'm not going to waste time to have sex with him, I know that I would just feel dirty. I still haven't found that guy and really fallen in love so I'm still a virgin but it's okay even if I still would want to find someone to ahare my life with. But it has to be more about an emotional connection I could see as someone to have a family with rather than someone to just have sex with.
