I feel awful even ranting about this but I need to get it off my chest…I came across an article on Facebook earlier about why mother-son bonds are important and I couldn’t help but cringe based on my experiences in dating guys who were close with their mothers. I can think of 3 guys I dated whose mothers turned a blind eye to their toxic behaviors. Yes, it’s healthy for BOTH genders to bond with BOTH parents but I very RARELY come across articles that encourage strong mother-daughter or father-son relationships. I actually have to go looking for them as they’re not pushed in our faces. As a mother of a daughter (who’s fatherless) and not being close to my mom (at all), it is so very important that our bond is healthy.
Maybe I’m just jaded and bitter but I hate the narrative we’re forced to live.
Thoughts ladies?
Edit: I hope this didn’t offend those with sons as I don’t intend to disrespect. I’m referring to those mothers who follow the patriarchal mentality.
