For several years, I practiced stoicism and aloofness to get through a particularly difficult period of my life. I noticed, as a side effect, I had zero problems with being hurt by or manipulated by men. In fact, I had the opposite, men would easily get emotionally attached to me.

I don’t recommend being overly stoic or aloof because A) life is not logical, and human situations can not be solved with pure logic and rationality {you need to trust your gut and think emotionally often to be intelligent and successful}and B) life loses its vibrancy when you’ve taught yourself not to hurt or care about anything. But...a little aloofness in terms of dating/dealing with men will do you a lot of favors.

I’ve toned down my aloofness and am back to living life passionately, but I still practice aloofness. Men will often try to make you jealous, or make you “compete” for his attention. Don’t fall for that shit. If he pulls this test once, shut down your emotional responses. It’s a form of manipulation that’s better off not allowing yourself the emotional investment towards. If he continues to pull tests like this, walk away.
