I’ve been trying to implement more FDS principles regularly and wanted to share this story. A while ago my ex (who I’m now NC with) was trying to get back together after leaving me. I talked to him for a while, initiated the convo a few days in a row. Went to bed one evening as the last person to say goodnight, and then never heard from him! Read on...

I woke up the next day (a Wednesday) and said, I’m not going to be the first to text him today, no good morning. I had texted him first daily the ENTIRE course of our relationship, and if I didn’t, he’d usually be upset and say why didn’t you text me this morning?

So, we’re broken up, this guy is trying to get back together, he wanted to hang out that upcoming weekend (and I had told him to wait and see because I was pretty sick early in the week), but I’m like, not my responsibility to text first all the time. I just wanted to see what would happen if for once, I didn’t text him and keep following up. This dude just NEVER texts me, all week long! So I enjoy my weekend, hang out with friends, see a movie, etc.

This guy had the AUDACITY to text me Monday morning, and tell me he needs to talk to me about something important, and he’s really hurt and feels like he got GHOSTED. I’m like excuse me, how is you ALSO not texting me, not the EXACT same thing, where I’M “ghosted”? This guy was upset with me for not being the one to initiate conversation or solidify and follow up on loose plans...Thanks to FDS, I see rightttttt through that now.

Ladies, a quick observation even like what I implemented will tell you a lot about someone. This was easy to do - just change a habit slightly and see how they respond. Thank you for coming to this Ted talk.
