I just keep my read receipts off. I like them wondering if I even got their “Hey” message at all. I used to dutifully respond to everyone and get back to them in a timely manner but these guys don’t deserve that! And what do you gain from them seeing you read their message? It might even give them hope that you read it and are playing games now by ignoring them on purpose. Nah. They’ll know you read and cared about their text if you deign to respond.

I'm confused by this strategy...is it supposed to be a power move? I can see this strategy backfiring. If he's someone that you are genuinely interested in...I think it's better to just match his energy/effort really! If he's not giving you much, don't give him much. Don't overinvest. I think that's a better power move really, but just my opinion.

I get where people might be coming from with the leaving on read strategy, but if the guy is really putting in effort & you're just leaving him on read...I could see him deciding to pull back his effort or just deciding to move on. If he is being lazy/flaky/rude though, then fuck it...certainly don't give him your effort/energy 🤣

It’s not about them, it’s about you. As long as you’re choosing to not reply because you don’t believe they deserve a reply, it doesn’t matter if you leave them on read or not.
