I love this. Focusing on the trauma I've endured made me bitter, focusing on how to rebuild myself and realizing how strong I was made me better.

This quote gets that. I'm not broken, I'm strong, that's the mindset I choose to have.

This is not to say I take any responsibility for what happened to me, or that I forgive the perpetrators, it's just saying that I've come out of it stronger because I chose to work hard on healing .

We are dealt the cards we are dealt, and then it’s up to us to make the best of it. Sometimes we’re dealt really shitty cards and it’s absolute hell trying to make sense of where to go from there. But we have to try. I am definitely stronger for all of the work I’ve had to put into myself because of the shit I’ve been through. It sucks that it happened but I can’t change it. I can only change my mind and focus on the resilient and valuable qualities I’ve gained through the unfortunate circumstances I have experienced.

This is exactly how I view my trauma. And it's not a popular opinion- but I am grateful for every single thing, because it has made me into the most beautiful version of myself. And I wouldn't trade this body and soul for a thing.

I have always heard this quote and never agreed. Actually, I find it offensive. As if my struggles should be thanked for who I am today? As if I'm somehow a better woman for the pain i endured?

I'm sorry but this piece of pottery has been smashed so many times and put back together poorly in the past, and now that I'm trying to repair it neatly and carefully, pieces are missing and there are leaks and it will never be functional again.

Sure, I might look like I've come along way. But I was abused and traumatized my entire life, and all it did was make me ugly and bitter.

I'm not more beautiful because I have hundreds of self harm scars all over my body.

I'm not more special because I got molested as a child.

I'm not braver for not killing myself when I wanted to so many times.

I'm just fucked up and it's not something that should be romanticized.

I would have had a better life, fewer chronic health problems as an adult, and I wouldn't have cut myself and destroyed my body in my teens if I didn't get abused as a kid.

Tell yourself whatever you want, but this "broken pottery is more beautiful" line is just a really twisted cope.

Accept that your past ruined many things for you. Accept you will never be the same. Then get over it.

Don't hype yourself up that you're so great just because you dared to get over getting molested. It's not my fault I got molested but it sure as shit didn't make me more beautiful or give any benefit to my life an adult.
