I turn 21 next week and have been mostly single for the better part of my adolescence and young adult years. I think a big part of my happiness and contentment comes from staying single. I don’t knock my best friends for having relationships and whatnot because that’s their lives. Once or twice a year I give love a chance just to see what’s out there, but I don’t think I’m missing out on much.

I have my own place, an education, hobbies, a group of really good friends, and enough money to do whatever I want any time I want. I’m lucky enough to be set for life due to my family’s circumstances (though I do intend to have my own ways to secure my own income in the future). I count my blessings and I refuse to settle.

Being single just means loving your own company and knowing that even if life gets you down or things don’t work out, you’ll always have yourself to fall back on. I don’t care if a man doesn’t think I’m pretty. My 16 year old self would think I’m the coolest girl on earth. 😌

And on top of that young girls and other women might be inspired by seeing a confident single woman and might want to become like her instead of having to deal with all the garbage in the dating sphere.

I really love being a confident single woman, in part bc it’s a ton of fun and in part bc just think of how many scrotes I piss off by just existing!

I am 20, have been single for a year after being in a small series of abusive relationships and flings for 4 years. And I love this message! It resonates so perfectly. When my abusive ex left me for someone else and then made my life traumatizing by stalking and harassing me everyday, I wanted someone as a support system. But I went for therapy instead. And after a year of being single, I have regained my sense of purpose in life, I got a good job, I did even better in university, I have my life sorted, I got into an exchange program, I redecorated my room, I celebrated the season of autumn and celebrated on year of being single. life has been good to me in the bigger picture because I finally got the time and space to be good to myself. So happily single and won't trade that awesome feeling.
