My grandparents have been married almost 50 years and are coming up to their gold anniversary. I asked my granddad how they made it work so long and he said, “I just married my best friend.” Made me tear up.
Edit: Just got a message from some LVM saying “this will never be us on FDS because all we want is money from men.”, I feel like I’ve hit some LVM insecurities!

That's really all there is to it. Stop marrying people you don't like. Stop marrying people you aren't compatible with just because you want to get laid or feel like you're supposed to be married at your age. Stop blaming women because they don't want to be your mommy wife and free maid. Marry someone you enjoy doing things with (outside of sex).

Couples tend time fight the most when they have financial struggles so those men are wrong. We’d be more likely to have a successful marriage if we’re financially comfortable

What’s a gold anniversary

In the UK and other commonwealth countries (I think?) we have anniversaries for how long a couple has been married for, the gold anniversary is for being together 50 years. We have special cards in shops that commemorate these events and usually special presents are given to each other. When you reach 60, 65 and 70 years I think you can apply to receive a letter of congratulations from Buckingham Palace.

Yes we do. And I just learned that In the United States, a couple can receive an anniversary greeting card from the President for the 50th and all subsequent anniversaries.
Wish i would have known that for my grandparents golden anniversary! They’re both gone now. 😥

Story time. I work at a place that has a beautiful, meditative and unique space within it. There a nail salon around the corner and we are friendly with the owner and workers. One of the nail techs walked a sweet, 80 year old man from the salon to our space to show it to him while he was waiting for his wife, who was getting her nails done. I told him he should bring his wife here and asked if maybe she had visited before and he said “oh, you’d know if she’d been here before, she’s the most beautiful woman in the world”. And I just......❤️melt

That's so sweet. I really like those Amazon reviews where men review stuff and say "my wife/daughter loved this, it works well for her, she's happy"
my favorite was one where a boyfriend was writing a review for a pet camera and he said he bought it for his girlfriend who is away on business trip because she loves her dog. That was really sweet. He said "she loved it and I could hear her squealing with delight over the loudspeaker (two way audio on the pet camera at their house) I've seen this under Yankee candle, scrunchies, and a lot of clothing items as well. A man posting a 5-star review saying how beautiful his wife looked in what he bought her and then a shot of them together on their date. So sweet. I always make sure to press the helpful button and I've seen it where most reviews don't even have any votes but the one written by men buying his wife some sort of gadget or clothing item or anything gets like 10 helpful votes

Millennial men believe in equal rights for women ONLY as it pertains to paying for things. They want the woman to support them financially in the name of "equality" yet also be responsible for all of the housework, childcare, cooking, and emotional labor. It's truly baffling.

I think sexism is just more insidious nowadays. Most everyone knows how they “should” act and the things they should and shouldn’t say, so they can play like they’re feminist, even if their thoughts and behaviors say otherwise.
