Exactly. I wasted too much time in my life explaining myself to toxic friends, peers and partners on why I should be respected. no I block and move on, walk away or do whatever I have to. If they don't respect you in the beginning, they probably never will.

I posted this awhile ago on another thread, but after I was a PickMe who let men do whatever they want, I went through this phase of begging and demanding that they treat me with respect, thinking it was somehow better. It was actually worse. Walk the fuck away from any man who doesn't know how to treat you right.

You don't get the behaviors you want from people without coaching them or displaying them yourselves.

Most people who 'demand respect' themselves have behaviors that do not elicit respect from others.

People are notoriously nice to me in person because I have a demeanor that reinforces it. It's why I'm so good at my job and why I deal with problem clients who are extremely rude to everyone but are magically nice and understanding with me, even when I'm telling them I'm unable to give them what they want.

If you cannot get someone to give you respect, then you're not presenting yourself in a way that causes people to naturally give it.

Blaming others for the way you're being treated is a catch-22, they shouldn't be treating you poorly, but you're, typically, giving them a reason to do it.
