So true. And I empathise with that woman so much. Had a male friend whom I was close-ish with for years. Eventually what happened? He asked to take me on a date. (Damn, dude. I liked you, why did you have to do this?) Good thing by then we were living in different cities so I just answered with "we'll see" and left it at that. The next time we saw each other was in a group outing and thank god he just went back to being his old regular self, and I for sure wasn't going to bring that question up ever. But now it feels like I can't talk to him anymore, because I feel icky that my friend is not really my friend, so basically the friendship is dead. So, that old question of whether man and women can be friends? Eh, no, not really. Not with straight men.

Straight men do not have strong, deep, 100% platonic relationships with women. They don’t seek or maintain these sorts of relationships. The only time a man might have something approaching that is if he literally met her when they were 4.

This is the sad reality of the ephemeral quality of male friendship. I have had 95% of male friends completely ghost me when I got into a LTR. Not to mention, I have a lesbian friend who reported the same thing. They were literally waiting for her to change her mind or something...the fck is wrong with these people.

Weird. I have a male friend since early teens. We both acknowledged that us together would be more gross than incest. Yes, straight men can be your friends, but maybe choose them wisely

Well mr.right will be my friend first before dating:). I will let him know that I would intend for it to lead to dating, but that I like to take my time. It might be a year before sex, but that way I know he is serious about me. If he is having sex with women after being exclusive, well that’s a problem.
