The aggression one! My benchmark is so off, but I’ve had others tell me thanks for letting them know x when I thought my saying it was too “aggressive”. Now I know it’s because others have tried to silence me by using the word “aggressive” to describe me standing up for myself. 😍

100% hits home. At work, there's a senior manager who repeatedly makes mistakes on the project where we both take responsibility. As my boss didn't seem to care after I reported his mistakes affect the whole productivity, I wondered if I was being too assertive. Maybe I should just shut up and make things work by myself for I didn't want to bother my boss regarding the problem he isn't interested in; what if he thinks I'm whining, I can't manage people, etc? However my friend told me why I should care about them while they don't. And it is his(boss's) job to listen to me and make things work. Like, I wasn't used to being assertive so that I felt I should put up with people even though they treat me badly. This really helps!

Last one for me. We have been flooded 10 days ago, Cologne Germany. Since then non stop work. My knee gave. Was prescribed a bandage. Could not even get that as fully occupied caring for husband who had strokes plus all the new trouble plus proof reading two master thesis of my kids at the same time. So I come last. As usual.

When you love and respect yourself, you naturally develop a radar for disrespectful behavior, and it’s not tolerated.
