They get so dramatic instead of apologizing sometimes it’s hilarious. You can say something like ‘I don’t find what you said funny, it’s offensive’ and they’ll be like ‘OKAY I GUESS I’LL NEVER SPEAK AGAIN’.

‘I’m sorry you took it that way’.

‘Okay but I didn’t mean it that way/to hurt you/to offend you so it’s okay’

Or they shift the blame on you ‘You’re being dramatic/hysterical/sensitive’

I had one who refused to say the words "I'm sorry" because it admitted guilt and weakness (his own reasoning). He would only say "I apologize", if I could ever get an apology out of him. He would also do that thing where he would say "now is there anything you want to say to me?" and then get pissy at me when I didn't apologize to him after he did some stupid shit and I got upset at him.

One of the replies to that tweet is a man saying "men don't apologize because a woman had unspoken expectations that we didn't know about, and therefore we did nothing wrong so no need to apologize"

This is the most telling response. Men simply don't think they've done anything wrong most of the time (this is backed by scientific research). Women are more likely to apologize even if we felt justified in our behavior, because we understand that hurting someone else's feelings - even if unintentional - warrants an apology. We're more focused on maintaining the relationship than being "right."

I had an ex who never apologized because he said "well my intentions weren't bad". So in his mind, he never did anything wrong because he could tell himself he had good intentions, even when I told him his behavior hurt me. He even pulled this line when he gave me HPV lol.

Men don't care how we feel or how their behavior impacts us. They believe their perception of the world is the only one that matters. It's scary that half of human civilization entirely lacks empathy, but also makes a lot of sense give how much violence peppers our history.
