I dont want to need women-only spaces, but this is why we do but its a bandaid-not the solution. This made me cry.

This makes me wonder if women could be the most oppressed when this is the norm. Death by patriarchy, death by rape culture as if rape wasnt bad enough. No one can even say she didnt belong there, it was school/college. However careful you are no one could forsee this. Unless they see rape in general anywhere anytime by any straight man as inevitable. She wasnt naive to trust friends, the boys trusted that they can get away with gang rape-that is what rape culture reinforces.

I can't believe this is what so many men aspire to be. You wake up and think about how you can rape a young lady to death with your equally perverse friends. Seriously, how can this be? If it's not flat out rape, its treating a woman like an object to use and abuse for sex, thinking they're better for not technically raping but it's still the same lack of regard and consideration. These guys deserve the same treatment. Men like this need to know how it feels to be treated with such disregard.

I can’t tell you how many times, as a young woman I ended up in situations where I was alone with more than one man at once and all I could think of was “please don’t let anything happen to me today.”

I learned to avoid ending up in those situations.
