Hi you lovely gals,

I need your opinion on something because I was recently told I was a bit too harsh on this guy and I need a second opinion on whether that really was the case.

So my best friend's family have a beach house that they sometimes use and they invited me along to it with them. Whilst I was on there, me and my best friend got drunk with her friend from home and downloaded my tinder. I had a huge pickme phase last year then shortly after finding FDS later I basically swore off Tinder and only downloaded it when I went on holiday for the occasional date/freakytimes. On a whole, that's worked out very well and I've grown a lot as a person and want to stay single. Anyway, I matched with this guy who was quite sweet looking, said he wanted a relationship and he seemed quite nice. We swapped each other's details and began messaging.

The first thing that made me a bit wary was he asked me out on a date but when I said I go to university about a two hour drive from where he lives he said he was fine with coming up. I asked why because it's a lot of effort and he said, "Oh you just seem like an amazing girl and there aren't that many out there." This was a red flag for me because during my pickme phase I always got told I wasn't like the other girls and all that BS but I'd get screwed over anyway (shoutout to FDS for making me realise that).

Anyway, I chatted to him a little bit more and he was like, "Oh I wish I could cuddle you." and I replied back very nicely telling him to take a step back because he hadn't really met me. He changed the subject. He took two days to reply to me even though he was active on the app we were messaging on. When he finally replied, I left it on read and a day later he messaged saying he had a great date planned out for when he came up to see me. I replied back saying "No thank you" and blocked him.

My best friend supported me doing this because she thought his remarks were a bit full on. Her friend from home however kept telling me what I'd done was horrible and that I'd passed up on a good opportunity because he was nice looking and he was willing to drive up to see me.

So was I too harsh?
