I am the same age as your stepmom. I will say this; if she hasn't viewed porn in the last ten or twenty years she may not be aware of what it has become. Granted, it was never great, but when I was younger it was nowhere near as extreme, violent or degrading as it is now.

I met someone recently (who just became my bf!) and he is literally the sweetest guy I’ve ever met. He is SO affectionate it’s amazing. He says he masturbates/d (stopping because we’re having sex now) a lot, so I was extremely surprised when he said he never watches porn and just uses his imagination. I actually believe him. I honestly didn’t think it was possible for guys to go without it. He’s never even begun to do any choking shit or asked to, and I can tell slapping my ass is really not his style (but he’s been asked to do it before—not by me; I find it so lame). I hate all of that stuff. I like to think there’s a correlation between his lack of porn watching and how kind/affectionate he is lol. I agree that nearly all porn use is problematic, just by the nature of the 99% of the low-effort material that is out there. I have seen egalitarian porn, directed by women, but you have to put a lot of effort (and some bucks) to find it.

The case is also crystal-clear if the male partner is porn-sick and it heavily affects a couple's romantic life.

But how do you go about occasional porn usage of your male partner, assuming it has no impact on you and your lives? None of my partners from the past were heavy porn users and I would not have known that they are casual users if they hadn't told me. I also had no interest in controlling my Exes over something that has no overlap with my life - so how do you go about the grey area between porn-sick and totally abstinent?
