About two months ago, I went on two amazing dates with a guy. For some reason, after the second date, I established that I was not down for a FWB situation. He told me that he wasn't either, and that if our friendship evolved into something more serious in the future, then so be it.

After we had that conversation, he did not talk to me for three weeks. I refuse to chase a guy, so I remained silent on my end. This week he texted me out of the clear blue apologizing for being a jerk. I played it cool and acted as if I didn't know why he would label himself that way. He admitted that it was because he suddenly stopped talking to me, even though he still wanted to talk. I continued to act as if I was completely unaffected by the fact that he sort of ghosted me.

We went on another date this week and he was more affectionate than ever, but I am afraid that he will roll back to giving me the silent treatment at some point. How should I proceed? I really like him, but I don't know what his intentions are. Part of me says to drop it, and that I'm probably just another tool in his toolbox, but I'm not sure if I should continue to explore what might become of it.
