"Butwhy don't women just say clearly that they aren't interested?"

Because there's a very real chance that your fragile man-ego cannot handle straightforward rejection so we have to go to great lengths to try to let all men down gently or simply exit the situation without giving an answer. We have no idea which ones amongst you are going to be set off by a simple rejection. We could get anything from a horrible remark, to a face-full of abuse and still count ourselves lucky that we didn't end up hospitalised, stalked, drugged, raped, kidnapped, killed or our loved ones slaughtered. We don't know and you men do a helluva good job at obscuring the picture and concealing which of those amongst you are likely to be capable of such things. The risk is so great that we have to treat all interactions with men we don't know or even ones we do know somewhat with the utmost delicacy and caution. ....and then , we're chastised for not being clear enough , for "leading men on" by not shutting them down immediately.

When is the onus ever gonna be on men to learn that anything other than a wiling and enthusiastically clear yes is a no? When are men gonna start labelling their friends, co-workers and family as "unsafe for women"? When are men gonna hold eachother accountable and make stark the difference between the good and the bad ones ?

Seems that me that a lot of guys would rather keep the lines blurred and us in the shade. That way, the fear of what a man might do to us if we outright reject him may keep our behaviour within the "grey area" letting him get away with whatever he does to us, claiming that he didn't hear a clear no. Fear of men and what they might do keeps us in check.

He refused to believe it was cultural misogny and not just the actions of one man, so when collecting evidence to the contrary, I discovered this tumblr page that already had.

Oh my God, the third story broke my fucking heart. I feel so bad for that poor, poor woman. I loathe the man who did that to her and I hope karma rears its ugly head eventually.
