Insecure men feel the need to control women. One way of controlling women is by restricting her social circle, even if it’s just in little ways such as offhand comments about not liking certain friends. If he dislikes that friend, she will spend less time with the friend either to accommodate him or because he won’t want to do things in a group with her. Ultimately, he sort of ...pushes out the friends, leaving his partner socially isolated with no one to support her when he is emotionally abusive.

Also, insecure men don’t like sharing a woman’s attention because they operate like toddlers.

I would guess that some of it is also based on their ingrained hatred of anything “girly”. A group of women implies to men that it will involve manicures, baby pictures, chick flicks and food that requires utensils. Deep down, the idea that another male might mistake them for participating in any of that shit terrifies them.

Whenever men make comments in front of me about not liking their girlfriends (and especially wives), I try to throw in a jab about, did you propose or did she? Oh damn, why did you ask / say yes if you hate this person? Makes them uncomfortable.

That's right jerk, YOU are responsible for your own happiness. If you're actually married to a harpy, which I doubt, then whose fault is that? Definitely not hers. I fucking hate it when men act like shit just happens to them when they have so much innate social power.

Mine bad-mouthed me behind my back, said awful things about me, all of which were untrue. He was laying the groundwork to justify cheating on me (he had been cheating for years at that point but I guess he figured that one day, the truth would come out, and he didn't want to look like the bad guy). It worked

Depends. Sometimes it's about control, or having her as an exclusive. In some cases men provide a fresh view on some people. My boyfriend looked at my then bff with some concerns about my mental health and he was right. She was an energetic vampire, a toxic person who drained life out of me. However he never said that here and now I have to cut her loose. He just stated his opinion, I confronted if with all the shit that hapoened between me and her and he was right. I just let this friendship gradually die. Now I am free as a bird and my head is much more clear without her in my life

All my friend's partners dislike me because I'd drag my friends out to go clubbing and bar-hopping.

Apparently they didn't appreciate their partners being returned home at 3am having had a fun flirty night compared to the boring nights they had.

I find that if you are "friends" with your Bf/Husband then you have minimal issues with your friends and his friends.

Example: I'm a gamer and a nerd. So is he. So are my friends, so are his. We both keep our personal friend circles healthy (petty, mean people are called out or cut out.) so there is little to dislike.

The textbook abuser I dated in high school (he was 20) wouldn't let me hang out with my female friends without him because he was afraid they would try to get me to cheat on him. 😐 He also freaked out when I got a job where I was working with a lot of other high schoolers. He thought I would meet another guy there and leave him. I did leave him, but not because I met anyone else.
