Ugh my parents always say this to me and its usually a segue into the "just give him a chance" and "put yourself out there" lecture. Its toxic because its telling women to accept and even expect toxic and low value behavior like its some sort of practice or warm up for a better prize. You don't need to settle for LVM and you should not be wasting your time and energy giving a chance to someone that you can see has red flags or LVM traits. Don't do it. The more time you waste on the LVM, the more you are shutting yourself off to the HVM that are out there.
