One of my wifeβs complaints was that I βdo too much for her, making her feel useless.β Maybe itβs a common complaint.

Useless woman, imagine that!

Got this one as well. Honestly at this point it's just because they need excuses to jump on the CC back and can't find anything negative to say.

I did everything for our kids and around the house. Everything. She even acknowledged it. She messed around on her phone and watched TV in bed and only got up for work or to eat the dinner I made. I am a disabled vet, so it physically hurt. She is able-bodied, aside from being just shy of morbid obesity.
Eventually she said she no longer loved me because we never saw each other, and she left.

And how is life now, dare I ask?
[β]Puggednose8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
It was little under 2 years ago. I couldnβt afford the house on my own, so Iβve moved. Then I lost my job, but Iβm on disability. Iβm not working or dating and life is kind of shit, but my philosophy now is that I canβt lose what I donβt have. It wasnβt the first time I lost everything. Iβm just done.
I keep it together though, because I still take care of the kids. One wasnβt hers and the other wasnβt mine (previous relationships). Mine I see half the time and my stepson I see about 1/4 the time. I do right by them, I just donβt know what Iβll do in 10 years.
Lately I have been wishing I could date again, just because I have never had a good girlfriend. But I know I have some dealbreakers (2 divorces, no job, no friends, short height, over 35), and even if I found someone sheβd do something horrible eventually. Plus I donβt trust myself not to fall in love and marry her.

"I do right by them" That says everything about you, your character and your guts as a man. Wish I could buy you a beer in person . Stay strong bro.

Now that you have free time, you can build yourself up. Good luck and keep looking for a new passion or a new philosophy that gives you some empowerment.
Youβre better off you just donβt know it.

Ill translate that for you.
βdo too much for her, making her feel useless like youre a beta male who is beneath her, and therefore no longer attractive.β
Do you know why women are not attracted to guys who treat then really well? They want to have a man who they see as better than them. They want to feel like theyre the lucky ones. They want a king, not a peasant.
When you treat her really well, like doing all the chores and constantly complimenting her, she sees you as the peasant. When you act like youre better than her, she will percieve you as "above" her.
[β]john212325 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Sad but true. Thanks for reminding me.
[β]Grant14124 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
While TheRabbitTunnel's translation is absolutely bang on, it's only the perspective of women. You don't need a woman's perspective.
You are a far, far better human being than your ex could ever be.

Men seem to forget the genetic imperative of women - to be in the harem of an alpha male.
The further a woman falls away from this imperative, the more she will be unfulfilled. She will then complain about everything in her life because she doesn't understand the source of her unfulfillment.
[β]john212321 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I really wish this werenβt true but my gosh it is.
[β]FuzzyMcFuzzerton 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
lol, I have actually heard that before.
Do you cook well? It makes her feel inadequate about her cooking
Do you keep your place clean? She feels bad about hers
You can't win. Instead of being inspired to do better or work as a team, they feel threatened and the hamster in their head goes mental.
Fuck that noise!

Marriage is like a carnival game. In the back of your head you know it's rigged, yet you keep putting money down. The prize is something cheap and forgettable you paid 10x it's worth for, and once you get it in your hands, you wonder why you wanted it so bad in the first place.

A girl I was seeing texted me to end it, we had only been seeing each other for like 2 months physically.
When she texted me she said she wasn't feeling it and we would be better off as friends.
I said something along the lines of I didn't feel that way and still liked her, but asked what I did wrong so that I could next time correct the behavior in future potential relationships.
I was nice in my response, not coming off as overly emotional.
Funny enough she never responded.
[β]godworksout[S] 17 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Put yourself in her shoes, she probably has a hundred guys like that. She doesnβt want nice. Sheβs probably running off with your polar opposite.
[β]Dynastywar64 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh she did, she got into a official three day Facebook relationship with a guy that all she had in common with him was drinking.
As soon as they sobered up from all the day and evening drinking they actually had to deal with each other and realized all they had in common was drinking.
They broke up three days later and she wrote a woe is me post on Facebook and all her orbiters were sitting telling everything is going to be ok.
It was funny and sad to watch.

There seems to be a huge difference between what women say they want and what they actually respond positively to. It drives me crazy.
[β]godworksout[S] 12 points13 points14 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Once you understand it, you will know that anything a woman says is either projection, what she wants you to say, or itβs exactly the opposite.
[β]BertTheWelder5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I get the whole dual-mating strategy thing having some evolutionary advantage. I cannot understand what advantage this sort of behavior comes with. How does this help them?
[β]Thermotastic5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
For Some of them, you can do all the house work and still be called lazy.
Than good sir is projection for you. Nothing is ever good enough.

They like being martyrs and blaming it on the husband and family. My own mother was like that.
Examples, she'd complain about having to laundry and if someone tried to do their own, she'd go gather laundry and try to do it at the same time and start a fight about needing the washing machine. When it was suggested to set up a schedule for everyone to do have a time to do their own laundry, she got upset saying having everyone running separate loads of laundry would use too much soap, water, and electricity.
She'd complain about having to cook and if others tried to cook for themselves, she'd pitch a fit about everyone dirtying up the kitchen. It made no sense, she complains about a problem, is offered a solution, and turns her nose up at it.
Why she wanted to play martyr and complain about being the maid, slave, etc., I'll never understand. I figure it was because she wanted attention and to make everyone feel guilty for some reason. She actually got upset when I moved out on my own and moved to another city. When I was packing to move, she locked herself in a back room all day and wouldn't come out. My father and I handled the move together and when I asked about Mom he said "Don't worry about it."
Give me the single life any day.

Ooo my ex-wife of 9 years said I occasionally didn't open doors for her, wouldn't get her food at a party, and was too frustrating to argue with due to logic applications etc.
So she cheated on me with multiple men at the same time and made fun of me to them, dishing out my secrets and private pains. She said I deserved it for making her feel small. She sure showed me.
[β]godworksout[S] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
All she showed you is that you were something she could never be so she tried to destroy you.
