Thank you! Feel free to reply to that on original post. Sometimes it frustrates me being on reddit, it’s like a haven for those who can’t face simple truths!
[–]Vegebanana63 points64 points65 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’ll stay here where reason and logic happen or simple misunderstanding can be answered with debate. Saw the thread no one wants to debate and will shy away from different opinions. Most of the answers on the thread are wrong or simply verbal judo’d to blame men. Women just want attention: yes because they report it first, then end it there. Men’s mental health is stigmatized. Men are either caught with indirect red flags (giving stuff away) or during the act unfortunately most of the time it’s after the deed is done. Men choose more drastic: yes because they are at the end of their rope usually from “stress” (fucked financially [usually from divorce]). Women get higher chance of aide. Unless her ego is damaged there isn’t much reason for her to kill herself. Men are trying to make a statement or women choose peaceful methods: wrong method is chosen by what is available. If a man isn’t gonna kill himself with gun he’d use rope then shoelace. But how do you know? Because people find ways to kill themselves in prison. Had you simply added men should seek attention like the superior people known as women./s you would have your upvotes and downvotes switched.

reddit is garbage, outside this sub there is no reason whatsoever to talks with these degenerates that are out of touch with reality

I’m starting to think everyone on reddit has anxiety and is depressed. Make excuses for every action and can’t take any responsibility. All think orange man bad and believe all women. Some people will never learn. Oh well, harder lives for them I guess.
[–]MostBuilder20 points21 points22 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I always refer to the Reddit meet-up pictures they have. They're mostly obese, soyboys, dregs of society. They're useless idiots who never really lived in the real world outside of their computers. So it's no surprise they have anxiety or depression, they don't have any drive to improve themselves, so they drag others down like crabs in a bucket.
[–]starkfuture0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I've always been of the opinion that we need to educate women
Transverse cuts, no. Longitudinal cuts, yes. Guns to the head, yes. Poison pills, no.
[–]WrongTime0175 points76 points77 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Women do dramatic yet inefficient methods more often than men (usually to get even more attention). Most often this involves some sort of prescription overdose.
Men, on the other hand, take far more efficient methods to kill themselves, such as a gunshot. If you ask me, I think it’s because a lot of suicidal men know not a soul genuinely cares about them, so a dramatic suicide attempt is more likely to end in the man suffering even more since men don’t get white knights to save them like women do
[–]someweirdkid2821 points22 points23 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Hey, I agree with everything you have said because I have been there. I tried to take my life last year with a massive overdose but thankfully I survived. I didn’t own a gun (thank god or I wouldn’t be here today). Anyways, life was shitty and I felt like it was crashing down on me and I was fucked. Couldn’t handle the stress. After the attempt no one asked me anything or cared all cause I don’t have a vagina. Whatever, I don’t need their sympathy or anything. Thank you for understanding.
[–]Solo_and_Simple14 points15 points16 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Glad you're still with us. I'm sorry that no one asked you about it or cared, at the time. That's fucked. I hope your life gets better. Don't throw in the towel too early. I was miserable in my 20s but I'm happy in my 50s. Life does get better. It just takes time and work. Hang in there, do what you can to improve yourself, and keep going. Don't give up.
[–]someweirdkid287 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Australia did a large weapon buyback program. And crime was unnafected....but the suicides were going down.
[–]MechaDuff7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think part of the issue is that many women subconsciously know that they have plenty of support and there is hope on the horizon and that suicide is a short-term answer.
But I feel like many men feel they have no support and any issues they have, even if they survive, will still be waiting for them over the next few decades.
[–]Sir_manalot7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Because women do it for a cry of help. Women know people will help them and are quick to use it to get attention(I need help now).
Men usually bottle it in (Because nobody will help them) until the very end. Most people do not even realize anything is wrong with the man until it is too late (that is how little they care). If a man tries a less successful method, people just mock him and do not even count it a lot of the time. If he asks for help, he is hated most of the time.
Sadly, most people are so selfish and purposefully ignorant on the subject. So they will never see the truth and just use the fact that women “attempt” suicide more to justify it helping men at all.
[–][deleted] 63 points64 points65 points 6 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
You are wrong. Women attempting more often is a false statistic.
Women are treated at the hospital for self-inflicted wounds more often than men. Put their hand on the stove while going psycho? Suicide attempt. Parents bring their daughter to the hospital for cutting her wrist? Suicide attempt. The same parents bring that same daughter to the hospital ten more times for the same thing? Ten suicide attempts.
Never trust feminist statistics.
[–][deleted] 20 points21 points22 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Indeed. Reminds me of the sexual assault statistics survey at universities / colleges from years ago...
"80% of women have been raped or received unwanted attention at university!!"
Because those two responses can quite clearly be cobbled together into one statistic. Between Ronaldo and I, we have scored 23 goals for Juventus this season. Boy I'm good.
[–]Hellse3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm all the way at "never trust women" frankly. Even those of my own blood frequently advocate against my best interests.
[–]LateralThinker131 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Have you ever received unwanted contact or attention?
They also omit that under the same survey, almost similar numbers of MEN report this from WOMEN.
But they'll cut that from men's numbers or define rape as PIV so men's percentage is near-zero.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Reminds me that they'll suddenly include male statistics as well just after discussing something affecting women, so people naturally associate the statistic with women rather than everyone. Its all smoke of mirrors and sleight of hand. You wonder why people tend to be disparaging of Feminism these days when their minions resort to cheap tricks to maintain their world view.
[–]LateralThinker131 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This. It's so easy to debunk feminist statistics; they're not honest at all when they're presented. Everything's political and narrative-supporting; counter-statistics (aka Facts) are anathema to their religion. It's frustrating as hell.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The sad thing is how readily those statistics are swallowed despite in most cases being obviously wildly inaccurate.
[–]Solo_and_Simple1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
It's an actual statistic, not a feminist spin. It's well known and has existed for as long as they've tracked stats on suicide attempts. Women do attempt suicide much more often than men do, and men "succeed" at it much more often than women do. Those are facts, not feminist spin.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
The source for that statistic in America is the CDC, which uses hospital visits where self harm was reported as the reason for visit.
[–]Solo_and_Simple0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link
Yes, and there are other stats from a wide variety of other sources, and they all show pretty much the same thing -- high differentials between men in women, both in suicide attempts and suicide completions. The ratios are very high and very consistent. They appear in almost all data, across cultures and across ages. This has been the case for many decades, as long as I can remember.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Sure, self-report data.
Self-report data has been demonstrated to be completely unreliable in regards to taboo subjects like this, even when completely anonymous. That is why the CDC relies on hospital data instead.
Women go substantially lower when talking about partner count, men go higher, both lie about infidelity, both lie about homosexual and pedophilic thoughts. All these things would be relatively the same regardless of culture or age.
Women say they have attempted suicide when they haven't. Men say they haven't attempted suicide when they have.
[–]Solo_and_Simple0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link
Not just self-report data. Psychiatric hospital admissions for suicide attempts, therapist reporting, police records, etc. There are many sources. They all tell the same story. Women attempt suicide much more often than men do. Men "successfully" kill themselves much more often than women do.
No reason to discount self-report stats as being gender biased, btw, especially not at a 2 to 1 ratio. You'd expect suicide stats to be under-reported generally (which is likely why CDC prefers objective data on self-harm, of which suicide is one form). But there's no real reason to expect differential reports by men vs. women, because the stigma applies equally to both; it isn't gender-specific.
You are assuming that the huge differential (more suicide attempts by women) is due completely to women who are doing minor forms of self-harm (superficial wrist scratches, for instance) for "attention," and then this gets recorded as a suicide attempt. First problem is that attention is not the motive for most self-harm. Second problem is that psychiatrists can tell the difference between minor self-harm that does not put the patient at serious risk and a form of self-harm that endangers their life. Third problem is that most people resist being labelled as suicidal by a doctor, since it means you have to take a trip to the local psychiatric hospital and stay there for 3 days, minimum. So if there's a chance to get out of being labelled a suicide attempt, they'll do it. Fourth problem is that all of this rests on your assumptions, rather than the data themselves.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Talk about assumptions... raw data isn't meant to tell a tale on its own. You actually have to sit back and think about what it means.
Psychiatric hospital admissions for suicide attempts
Men don't talk about their suicide attempts. Women self-harm for attention(Or, the PC way of labeling it, "A cry for help").
therapist reporting
Men don't go to therapists. The demographic that does go is not at all representative of men as a whole. Same for women, but to a lesser degree.
police records
Hospitals don't even have a way to distinguish self-harm from suicide and you think the police do?
They all tell the same story.
No. They tell exactly what the data tells you, and nothing more. More women that see therapists report with no verification for truthfulness that they attempted to commit suicide more often when compared to men that see therapists, with no verification of truthfulness.
As a teenager, I once smothered myself with a pillow because I had a bad day, but I quickly moved it away when I wanted to breathe. Would I say I have ever attempted suicide? No. Would a woman report it as a suicide attempt? Maybe(yes).
But there's no real reason to expect differential reports by men vs. women, because the stigma applies equally to both; it isn't gender-specific.
Social currency and attention. It is 2020, being a victim is cool. It gives you solidarity and pity points from others. It helps you feel less bad about having advantages over other people.
You are assuming that the huge differential (more suicide attempts by women) is due completely to women who are doing minor forms of self-harm (superficial wrist scratches, for instance) for "attention," and then this gets recorded as a suicide attempt. That is because it is... the statistics widely spread only use self-report national surveys or self-harm hospital data. Nobody cares about your psychiatrist data because 1- it isn't representative, and 2- it probably shows women attempt suicide less than the national survey does, so nobody cares about championing it.
[–]Solo_and_Simple0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link
Well, it's abundantly clear that no matter how much evidence is out there, all pointing to the same conclusions, you'll find a way to dismiss it. No matter how many different sources, how many different methodologies, how many different cultures, how many decades -- it doesn't matter to you. It's all a big feminist conspiracy.
You've got your mind made up, and you aren't going to let the facts confuse you.
Later.
I can throw that entire rant right back in your face. You say your sources show evidence to support your beliefs when it is nothing but your own false misinterpretation of raw data.
it's all reaching the same conclusions; it's all very consistently pointing in the same direction.
A fallacy. All throughout historty, we have very consistently been pointing that women and men have a physically impossible partner count average.
Others say, "That is probably because they were lying."
Your stance, "That is just how it is."
It is complete nonsense. Regurgitating the article headlines when they fail to read and understand the data they look at doesn't make you right.
[–]Solo_and_Simple0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
lol, I'm not engaging in a "rant," you are. I'm pointing to reams of evidence across multiple decades and cultures, multiple sources. You're just responding with, "It's all a feminist conspiracy! They're doing it for attention!"
It's pretty silly. I don't know why I'm wasting my time. I ought to know better. See ya!

attempted suicide is such a bullshit stat designed to marginalize male suffering. one emo thot can attempt 20x n it would count as 20 attempts, whereas each man can only die once.
it is also highly subjective, what. count as an attempt any way. on the other hand, with suicide stat, u are either dead or alive, period.
one last point, maybe men attempt suicide more, but they just don't talk about it. or maybe not, n that's the point, attempted stat is subjective n unreliable.

The truth is, most (or a lot) of people who attempt suicide are ambivalent about it -- they have mixed feelings. Part of them wants to die, and another part wants to live. After all, we're biological creatures, and it's pretty hard to over-ride the natural impulse to preserve our own life. So the mixed feelings or ambivalence, even if it's unconscious, can scuttle the attempt.
And then, even beyond that, there are a lot of ways to mess up a suicide attempt, even if you're deadly serious in your intention.
[–]OriginalGreedy1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I dont buy it.
[–]Solo_and_Simple-1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
You don't have to. Just spend 5-10 minutes googling the subject. It's well-known, well-documented.
I find it strange that MGTOW are resistant to these facts. MGTOW in my experience is normally quick to celebrate and promote stories about how unhappy women are. Yet with this, it's "No, it's all made up by feminists."
I guess the resistance comes because, to some people's minds (not mine) talking about higher rates of suicide attempts among women supports a "female as bigger victim" narrative. But this is just attempts, not completions, and certainly, if we're competing for victim status (which I wouldn't want to do in the first place, but whatever), actual suicides are more tragic than attempted/incomplete ones.
[–]OriginalGreedy0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Didn't feel like getting into this but since you want to attribute motive to my opinions fine, here we go.
"Part of them wants to die, and another part wants to live"
This statement goes hand in hand with what my OC said, Suicide is easy if you actually want to die. These people who fail attempts dont really want to, so why do they still make the attempt? Attention. These failed attempts are almost always lightly cutting their wrists short of hitting a vein, or taking just enough pills to fall short of lethal doses, these people aren't actually trying, and they know it. Its not hard to find a tall building to jump off of, or a gun to shoot themselves with in America. Nobody here is competing for victim status, simply pointing out mismanagement of resources. I would love to see this documentation that can read minds, and tell me why someone "tried" to kill themselves. I suspect no such documentation exists.
"there are a lot of ways to mess up a suicide attempt, even if you're deadly serious in your intention."
The simple fact that these failed attempts are commonly less effective ways to kill yourself proves my point. How many of these failed attempts are from jumping off of skyscrapers? Or bullets to the head? Very few, if any. They intentionally choose methods that are ineffective, and then half ass them.
I think you're being simplistic when you dismiss some people's ambivalence about taking their own lives and just say it's a matter of either wanting to do it (in which case you will succeed) or else you're just looking for attention. I'm not interested in getting into an argument about it, so I'll leave you to your opinions. If you'd like to learn more about motives for suicide and what people know about why people try to kill themselves, etc., there is plenty of literature out there (which does reference the ambivalence I'm talking about). I worked in the mental health field for decades. This isn't a secret or debated. It's a lot more complicated than you're making out. But I'll leave you to your opinions.
[–]OriginalGreedy0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, i really dont care what reasons these attention seekers report as their reasons. None of that is verifiable. So yeah, agree to disagree i guess.
[–]bri23890 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Not so sure about this. I've got a suicidal 10-year-old son. There is no ambivalence -- he wants to be dead and gone. He says he knows it would make me sad if he was dead, so he's sticking around. He has a detailed plan though for how he'll do it though and he's smart enough not to screw it up.
I was making a generalization. There are certainly people who do not feel ambivalent about it. My point was that many people who attempt suicide do have ambivalence about it. Understandably. The drive to survive is pretty strong, and it takes a lot to over-ride it. Some people also are afraid of the pain involved.
p.s. The fact that he's sticking around because he knows his death would negatively impact other people -- that's a form of ambivalence, too.
[–]CollapseOfTheWest12 points13 points14 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
LOL at all the answers in the thread saying how much more empathetic and concerned for others women are. Reddit's collective head is so far up its collective ass it makes my eyes cross.
Because men objectively have it worse than women in the Western world and are more willing to do whatever it takes to go once they decide to go. Won't post that over there due to the inevitable and rather tedious downvote to oblivion I'd get. But it is the truth.
FWIW, in places where women might arguably have it worse than men (places like rural China and rural India) the suicide rates of women and suicide methods used by women are much closer to males. Effective but horrifically painful methods like insecticide or jumping in front of trains. Guess those Chinese and Indian women missed the empathy memo. 🙄
[–]bpdloveoflife11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
People who succeed in suicide are the one who have reached that stage of quiet desperation, where they just have no more fucks to the world. They will carefully choose a method thats least painful but sure to die.
People who have not reached that level of quiet desperation, but actually looking for help from others, choose softer methods with higher chance of survival. They also talk about it a lot before actually attempting.

I heard it's because men are more aggressive, therefore more likely to follow through with an act that involves death. Women may be more unhappy and may want to commit suicide more, but in simple terms they just dont have the balls. And yeah maybe they want attention too, very likely.

I had an EXGF who told me she was going to commit suicide. I literally said to her "OK see you later". Not surprisingly, I did see her later and no suicide attempt was attempted. The conversation went like this:
Her: "You don't care about me I said I was going to commit suicide and you just said see you later"
Me: "Your suicide attempt didn't go to plan then"
Like has been implied on here women use suicide attempts or talking about sane as attention-seeking.
In my case, I knew she was attention-seeking and pulling a hail mary because she wasn't getting her precious way. If a horrific incident happened in her life; loss of a family member/pet, getting diagnosed with a life-threatening illness or having serious injuries as a result of a car crash etc... I would have taken it seriously and got professional help etc....
TLDR; Women are attention whores who use suicide as a desperation method to elicit attention from guys.

Unpopular opinion here: I agree with the pic.
They fail because they want the attention that comes afterwards, either online or in person. When it comes to men, we get the job done, for whatever it is that we intend to do, so if no tears will be shed over their lives or deaths, they just get it over with and no live streaming or attention-whoring most of the times.

[–]barkingtree260 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Its true and everyone knows it. Women attempt more but men have 4x the rate. This only logical conclusion is women do it for attention.
Also suicide attempts in men are vastly under reported. Taking pills then calling an ambulance? Statistic. Putting a gun in your mouth then taking it out after 5 minutes of thinking? Not a statistic
It's because men choose more violent means -- men choose guns, women choose pills (generalization). Men are more likely to be gun owners than women. Women are more likely to be on medication than men.
That was factual, but this part is speculative. I think men, by the time they get to the point where they're going to suicide, it has become a final decision for them, something "rationally" arrived at, and they've made up their minds. With women, though, it's often an emotional impulse that takes them over, not something they've deliberated long and hard about. They get into a mood and swallow a bottle of pills. So for the man it's a deliberate, firm decision, whereas for the woman, it's more of an emotional thing. It's also often a relational thing -- it's a cry for help, for example, or a way to express their anger and desperation.
So for those reasons, I think women have more ambivalence in their attempts than men do (generalizing here), and so they leave more room for surviving the attempt.
Men choose more lethal methods. Gun to the head, noose, etc. Women chose things like overdose, a slitting wrists. Invariably there is a survival rate to the methods women tend to choose.
Btw OP, I think you may be missing the point of MGTOW if you’re just wandering around other subreddits intentionally provoking people. That’s (a) not an effective way of red pilling or (b) a healthy use of time for you.
All the best on your journey.

[–]wmzyboy0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s also because of women’s vanity, they want to leave a pretty body so the do things like cut their wrists or take a bottle of pills. If you are found in either of these situations then you will most likely survive. Men on the other hand tend to use firearms, jumping or hanging and you can’t save people in these situations most of the time.

Women want someone to give them attention. Men, when they've made the decision, have thought deeply about why they want to die. They come the realization that they don't see things getting better even if someone were to care. But society didn't care if a man dies, it's just another statistic.

Women dont actually wanna commit suicide. Their beta orbiters give them a reason to live. All those likes are what women live for.

Yes. Women do it for attention. Men do it to solve a problem. Women are good at getting attention, but they have to be alive to enjoy it. Men are good at solving problems, and the problem IS living in this shitshow of a society.

Yikes sweaty. Let’s unpack this.

Women will actually admit a lot of the time that they just barely overdose on pills, purposely make the rope thin enough to break under body weight, purposely slit just under core arteries on their wrists, etc. All this with the help of google. (Pills being the most popular and safe option out of every other way to fake an attempt).

Absolutely correct. Iv been touched by suicide. A bloje in my life decided to use the rope. Noone saw it comn, no indication. Two women in my life both chose to od on painkill ers n conveniently did it where theyd be found vefore its too late. What followed was special treatment and pple walking on thin ice around them. Both still alive today. Ones is living relatively normal. The other (an ex partner) now a pharmaceautical junky for all sorts of disorders...unbelievable.

You are 100% true.
Briefly looking through that thread, the bluepillers/cucks have defaulted to saying that women choose less dangerous methods like overdosing and slitting wrists, while men choose more dangerous methods like shooting themselves.
This is technically true at face value, but when you ask the reason WHY the genders choose these methods, you ask them to actually interpret the data, they have absolutely no clue. Some responses were so stupid, they were like "women care about the people who have to clean up the scene!"

they don't want to hear the truth. They want to hear how whammy are the victims, but evil patriarchy doesn't even let them kill themselves!
