Yeah, I’m a black person but have realized this to be the case. It’s unfortunate because white people aren’t bad. Most people I work with and hang out with are white. Diversity also means trying to push more men out in favor of women.

I have actually asked the question in job interviews - “Do you have a self imposed diversity hire quota?” at a point in the interview where I don’t think it’s going well. If the answer is “yes”, I get up and leave because I know I’m wasting my time. It’s a waste of time for 1 of 2 reasons. 1. I’ll be passed over in favor of a woman, someone from an “oppressed” group or visible minority or 2. I will get hired on, soon be frustrated with the level of incompetence and unnecessary drama that surrounds me and be packing my bags for the next opportunity.

More accurately- ‘Diversity’ is the alternative to ‘hire the best person you can find’.

Focusing on diversity by excluding the best people, due to their race or sex, means you’re being racist or sexist.
