Because men and women are different. Women have (always) had all the power and therefore they get away with the shit they do.

Women don't want those they perceive as losers. And I'm not meaning that in any negative way. If you're barely getting by, father to children, divorced, that's how women see you.

Women are the worst people in the world, and they get away with it. It's nothing to feel depressed about. You're human.

You've been told all your life how wonderful these vampires are, so you're feeling some emotional angst about it. They will never, ever make you happy. I mean, pine for them all you want, but you're just throwing your shit, money, emotions, hobbies, etc., down a endless hole.

How much emotional energy do you want to spend on them? I mean, if you think about it, what are you really getting from a woman that you couldn't get yourself? Emotional support? Work on your emotions. A cook and maid? Clean your shit and learn to cook.

What would a hypothetical girlfriend do for you? Sex? Learn to masturbate creatively. Pat you on the head and tell you that you're a good boy? What are you really hoping to find?

As for people lined no up to be with you: get out there. Take some classes, join some clubs, volunteer, meet neighbours, make some solid guy friends.

I'm in the same boat as you... 38, divorced, paying CS on two kids, and making decent money (not quite what you're pulling in though). I also live paycheck to paycheck and drive for Uber part time to make ends meet.

When I started dating after my divorce, I found it to be a lost cause as all I was meeting were land whales, welfare queens, and women who should probably be confined to long-term psychiatric care.

After several dates with these lovely creatures, I realized that I couldn't justify spending what little extra cash I had on entertaining them. I decided to focus on being the best dad I could be, running and eating right, and playing video games in my down time.

The only women I'll even consider are those who are up for No-strings-attached hook ups and friends with benefits... and I've met a few of these over the years. If I'd never gotten married or had kids, I'd probably still be scraping by, as I'd be blowing a lot more to live in a trendy area, drive a nice car, and entertain vapid twats.

But would I be better off than I am now? Probably not.

I wouldn't worry too much about what the ex is up to. She may have a lot of thirsty betas trying to get in her pants, but with three kids, none of them are going to give her the commitment that women want so bad. I'd say, just focus on making the best out of your situation and ignoring what she has going on in her life.

You place your happiness too much in the hands of others. Just like how motivation is the best when it comes from within, happiness is the same. Think about what you want to achieve for yourself, not others (unless maybe your kids, but NOT WOMEN). For example, i want to be more healthy and less stressed. So i started doing things for it, diet, exercise, meditation, cold showers, reading and stuff like that.

You also have to understand what happiness is. Usually people think that being in that state of pure fun and fun is happiness, but imo, that's just fun. Happiness is more like a state of bliss, where you're satisfied with yourself. If you keep chasing the appreciation of women, it will never be enough because they will never be satisfied and even if they were, who cares? You're the one who needs to be happy with yourself, pros and cons. And if you're not, then you can always improve. And guess who will appreciate you improving? Yourself.

Try this instead... Go to a popular watering hole. Go to the bar and order a drink like your waiting for a friend. Ignore the ladies. See how long it takes for a woman to break the ice. (This is my favorite pick up routine.) Also, avoid "clubs". Too noisy and they are just designed to part you from your money. Lastly, go to the financial planning subreddit as well as listen to the master, Tom Leykis on you tube.

Why are you depressed because a girl won't date you? I find it wonderful when they are not interested in me. It's when they are interested that my problems begin. Now I have to watch out for gold digging and fairness. Plus the drama. Either they are bringing it or their family and friends are. And don't forget about all those other men that want. They will remind you of that so you best make them happy. Anyway, think about the fools dating your ex and what they are in for...that should cheer you up.

I'm slightly older than you by 2 years. These are fucking hard times for you I know.

The way I see it approaching 40 did a few things for me, but it wasn't an easy transition.

Prior to this "feeling 40" vibe, I still believed I had a chance to find a unicorn. Actually, I was also still fucking hookers too.

But there's this thing called a mirror and although I don't look bad for someone who's about to turn 40. I do still look like I'm about to turn 40. And there's this disconnect. Especially sometimes in the morning or when you're getting dressed about to head out. You feel much younger in your head, and when you see the mirror it's a bit of a shock. That "Fuck I'm getting old now, no really!" I didn't have this at 37, but at 39 for sure.

I came to the realization that I had invested most of my youth into finding "The one" and if a much more attractive version of me didn't stand a chance, a much more outgoing and dynamic version, smarter too, more witty, less cynical, brighter eyes. What chance do I possibly stand? These are realistic questions, right?

I gave up.

Plain and simple - I just gave that shit up, in my mind. It wasn't instant and I would say it took about a year to sink in fully.

My interest in sex has also taken a knock. I'm no longer interested in visiting hookers. It's because the only thing that would actually turn me on now is a woman who genuinely finds me attractive. In my 20's and early 30's, I got that feeling from women. Porn for all it's worth gets boring too. And as for girls in the wild, well just have a look at society.

Giving up and at the same time complying with your natural biological process opens up new worlds for you.

You can just be free to be yourself, you no longer have to compete in that game. It's ok to be 40 too. No 20-year-old girl expects you to be a Chad. It's not a disgrace.

My suggestion is to start doing some of the stuff you've always wanted to do. This could be anything like diving, paragliding, buying a drone. Whatever you want.

Essentially you need to cross over. From being in the game pretending you have a chance to crossing over and knowing you stand zero chance and are then fully committed to living another life.

Give yourself a raise by looking where you can cut expenses. A lot of people err by spending more on crap they do not need and barely want as their income increases, for no other reason than they can. the current situation is bad for most men. think of the men of history, I'm sure 90% of them don't have a life worth envying. Yeah man, it's hard. I'm 25, in loads of debt from school, coming upon zero prospects of marriage though I'd like to raise a child one day... So right now I just play video games and don't think about life. That might be changing soon as I've been feeling pretty fucking good and strong recently (first time in years). I honestly don't give a fuck about my ex's, even one I dated for 6 years. You need to sort that out real quick. I recommend abstaining from any sexual stimulation for 3 months - it'll really peel your mind from any woman.

People around here seem to mock the notion, since it's so popular on the TRP board, but have you tried weight training? Or ANY type of exercise? All you really need is about 45 minutes a day.

Exercise is the BEST antidepressant there is, and if you're strapped for cash there are PLENTY of ways around that (you don't need a gym membership or fancy equipment if you know what you're doing).

Stay strong man, get some exercise, and take care of yourself. You'll come out of this a BETTER man than you were before.
