I've been MGTOW since late 2016/early 2017. In 2019 I saw a post that discussed being a "grey man" - and I was fascinated. The idea of a "grey man", is a man that blends into the background. A man that takes care of himself. A man that doesn't buy the latest gadgets, wear expensive clothes or an expensive "look at me" lifestyle. A man that keeps himself to himself. A man that if you ever saw him in the street, you wouldn't look twice at.

I've spent the last 2 years working on the idea of being a "grey man" and I've somewhat achieved it - although the finished product is still a long way away.

The main steps I taken were to "downgrade" my lifestyle. I'm not wealthy by any means, but I looked at my clothing - most of it was branded. I looked at my phone - it was the latest Samsung, which cost ££££ (yes, close to £1,000 including a contract for 2 years).

Fast forward 2 years and I'm running a 5 year old iPhone. Each one of my t-shirts cost around £3 ($5). I wear a £20 ($28ish) watch. I now actively refuse to debate people in work. In the past I'd state my opinion on politics, religion - not any more. I'm the "grey man" that I always wanted to be.

I'm working on even more changes, but it's mega important that if you "go grey", you don't do it overnight. A) it wont last, and B) people will wonder why the heck you changed overnight. If you make the changes in a more subtle way, over time, people are actually more likely to "accept" your changes sub-consciously and are less likely to bother you.

I'm single, early 30's, with my own place. I eat extremely healthy. I work out (from home) and I own old products and inexpensive clothing. No-one bothers me. Solitude. It gets a little lonely, but I have some video-games to curb that feeling. I guess this is it until the day I die. I will likely live as a grey-man for many years to come.
