Gonna speak from experience. I would say, get the degree but STILL go learn a trade. Im in the process of career change and IF the trade field doesnt pan out, you at least have a college degree.

This reminds me of a lady that told her kids that when they move out she expects them to pay her back for raising them. She had her kids so brain washed that they told me that I was selfish for not paying my parents back for all the meals and clothes that my parents bought me over the years. Dread works on all women. Cut off communication for a month. Ignore her. Go do your thing, then try reintroducing her into your life once you've made the changes you want to make.

The way I read this is a reasonable request very poorly stated.

Let me state it another way:

As long as you have been in college, your father has been required to pay child support. If you drop out to pursue a trade, that will no longer be the case. I have used that money to help support you; your house, your food, etc. If you chose to leave college, and stay under my roof, you will need to contribute since your father no longer will be on your behalf.

No granted, she didn't say that, but I am fairly certain that is what she meant, and I think that it was a super-dumb way to say it but I think it is, stated this way, reasonable.

Since this is Men going their own way and not boys going their own way. You have to be financially independent before you can be a man. I don't know the specifics of your mother's financials, but let me throw out a theory. I think your mom is not good with finances. All these years, since your parents divorced, she's been using the money from the CS to pay for her living expenses. Sure, you cost money, but the house food you eat is probably much less that was CS is. If you want to be a pacifist over to pay for your food, you're an adult that's a reasonable comprise. Otherwise, move out and get a job to pay for your schooling. TLDR; Don't be an entitled little boy, be an independent man.
